Fauna Works spotter catchers are typically contracted by clients to assist with the identification, protection and/or removal of wildlife (including venomous snakes) from an area that is about to be cleared.
Fauna Works supplies all equipment associated with performing spotter catcher activities. Our work in this area is consistent with contemporary best practice methodology. We treat all animals in our possession with the highest care and utilise strategies to ensure they have the best possible chance of survival when relocated.

Habitat Replacement and Enhancement
Fauna Works is committed to designing, manufacturing and installing effective fauna crossings to reduce wildlife population isolation through linear road and rail infrastructure We have had over 10 years experience in design, consultation in log culvert installation, rope ladder fauna crossing, glider pole installation, nest box and roost installation.
Wildlife Monitoring
Fauna Works installs artificial nest boxes, particularly in urban and rural areas; providing shelter and nesting sites for Australian bats, birds, bees and arboreal animals Fauna Works offers monitoring of nest boxes which can be crucial to their success whether they are being used in research or being installed as part of a species management plan.
Monitoring of nest boxes, breeding sites and roost sites can be undertaken by Fauna Works staff in addition to reporting systems that meet the requirements of local and state government.
Wildlife Telemetry Tracking
Radio telemetry is a tool used to research wild animal species in the field in order to gain a thorough understanding of that population and its dynamics as well as to identify any potential threats to its survival. This information can then be used to formulate management plans for the long-term conservation of that species.
Fauna Works conducts wildlife tracking producing baseline data like daily movements, home range size, use of home range and behavior.
Koala Spotter and Management
Fauna Works Environmental provides specialised koala detection and management services to support vegetation clearing projects across Queensland. Our accredited fauna spotter‑catcher (FSC) team applies a suite of reliable field techniques, including identification of scats and scratch marks, systematic inspection of trees for occupant animals, and recognition of key koala food trees and locally significant Regional Ecosystems.
Our staff bring extensive experience in koala risk management, assisting clients on projects where careful oversight of potential koala presence is essential. We have supported vegetation removal across a wide range of environments — from small residential blocks and linear infrastructure corridors to large‑scale clearing operations associated with major development and mining projects.
Fauna Works operates in full compliance with Queensland’s koala protection framework, including the Nature Conservation (Koala) Conservation Plan 2020 and associated operational requirements.
